WEARING: Her Curious Nature

After being invited to the Birdcage Racing Club at Ascot this Spring I faced a bit of a dilemma, what to wear on my head? I'm all for getting dressed up, but finding headgear for the races that is neither naff nor OTT can turn out to be quite some chore. 

Luckily whilst pottering around Portobello last year ago, I came across Her Curious Nature, designed by the gorgeous Sabrina. After putting in a desperate phone call, Sabrina invited me to come to her London studio, where all her pieces are handmade to pick a piece to compliment my dress. After immersing myself in velvet, flowers, crystals and feathers, I emerged with a couple of options to sport at Ascot. 

And so to the races...

You can now find HCN pieces stocked in Topshop Oxford Circus, and the range is getting bigger and bigger - now incorporating studded street-wear style snap backs. Apparently the range will soon include embellished leathers - so one to watch.

As the Autumn tuns to Winter it's time to crack out the cashmere... today it comes in the form of a supersoft M&S beanie. Paired here with a Reiss 1971 longline biker from last season - a recent bargain from the Reiss sample sale- with an Astrakhan collar no less! The leather leggings are from Zara. Massive heels are a bit of a must with these trousers, these guys are from Topshop boutique and old favorites of mine as they go with almost everything.

Seeing as the weather in London seems intent on staying grey... time to crack out the brightly coloured blazer and sparkly shoes!

Jacket - Zara, which I picked up in the summer and am fairly certain is out of stock, but their new season blazers are worth checking out. I have found a similar yellow number at H&M - and in the sale! OR for a much smarter, winter version check out Start Boutique who have a fab mustard tone wool jacket from  Carven.

Shoes - are again, Zara and have proven a huge hit over the past few weeks. 

BEAUTIFUL satchel - Borrowed from a friend but is a Proenza Schouler PS1, found here and is the softest of leathers (On the lust list for sure, I'm toying with not giving it back)

These are my top 3 Jo Malone fragrances and this afternoon the whole office and I have be enveloping ourselves in the delicious scents of Dark Amber & Ginger Lily, English Pear & Freesia and Wild Fig and Cassis... 

If you are in need to a little pick me up, you could do worse than head to Jo Malone and treat yourselves to one of these colognes, they are SERIOUSLY DELICIOUS. All of them (especially these three)

...The candles aren't bad either!

WEARING : Converse All Star 2 Strap Hi Tops

It's very much about leather Converse for winter...

I picked these up at the Village Bicycle sale last week. Stock at this Notting Hill boutique is always worth checking out, and on this occasion I swooped in and picked up these bad-boys... leather Converse high top's - for £40! 

I work at a pretty casual start up in Old Street and, lets just say my work uniform is informal at best - plus white Converse are such a classic I couldn't really resist. I can see myself wearing these all through the rainy winter and providing a much needed little break from the Chelsea boots/skinny jeans work combo I normally live in.

WEARING : Céline 'Audrey' Sunglasses

J'adore 'Audrey'

A true style icon, In  Breakfast at Tiffany's Audrey Hepburn tootles around NY in a pair of fab cat-eye frames immortalising the style. An almost universally flattering shape, the style was soon adopted by most of Hollywood and became a classic. This season cat eye glasses have been seen on the fashion elite and  the pick of these has got to be the 'Audrey' by luxury french fashion house Céline.

Céline have long created accessories that absolutely everyone covets, the masters at making pieces that are timeless yet modern too - and their Audrey sunnies are no exception.

I guess you could say  Céline is more about enduring style than 'fashion' - at least this is what you must tell yourself when purchasing these not so cheap but utterly gorgeous glasses. A sure wardrobe staple, the list of names seen sporting their Audrey's is as long as long as long, Olivia Palermo, Miranda Kerr, The Olsens, Kristen Dunst... the list goes on. 

Here I am sporting them in tortoise shell (admittedly looking far less glamorous than Audrey!)

WEARING : Ciaté's Caviar Manicure

Yesterday I attended an evening of pampering at Raffles in Chelsea (which I will blog about separately, as the food, drinks and clothes deserve their own posting!) This post however, Is on the Caviar manicure that I had from the lovely girls at Cité!

I actually saw a girl with these in the original black at an event a few months ago and I have to say I wasn't too sure I liked them, but when I had the chance to try them out last night, I thought I may as well and actually me and the friends that came with me all liked them! 

This is what we are talking about - tiny coloured pearls which, when poured over wet nail polish and gently patted in stick to your nail to create a 3D nail polish. The range comes in a multitude of colours and takes no longer to put on than a regular manicure, it is also apparently easy to remove with regular nail polish remover (although I have yet to try this - if its anything like glitter I'm not so sure!)

Ever the indecisive one, I went for a red base and rainbow beads, and I'm quite a fan of my 'cupcake' nails!

So there you have it, much posing with nails covered in tiny little beads! It's basically a fun manicure that has carried on getting a mixed bag of comments today but yes, I would definitely try them again... A word of warning though - a few of the beads have fallen off since last night so I would say it's better to buy the do it at home Kit's. That way you can do retouching and not be wandering around with semi caviar nails as I am now - after washing my hair and rifling around in my handbag all day...

WEARING : Nike Dunk Sky High Liberty Print Trainers

I LOVE my new shoes. I can't pretend to be much of a trainer person, I know there are those that spend thousands collecting them but I have to say I'm more of a high heel girl myself. 

But who can resist a pair of Liberty print Nike's in a yellow and lilac colourway, with supersoft suede - and a hidden heel?!

They are quite reasonable at £95 and available at Liberty and Office.

If hidden heels aren't for you Nike have done a few other designs - in a number of styles from the classic Air Max 1, to a flat high-top basketball style. In my eyes these are perfect trainers - worn with skinny jeans and a white tee, or city shorts and a silk top (as above)
